The CIA behind the death of Bhutto and plans to topple Musharraf?

The CIA appears to be trying to topple Musharraf and replace him with some more clearly pro-American figure.

A news story in the Financial Times, 27 December 2007, shows us how things may be being planned by the CIA. (Exit hope? Bhutto’s killing leaves Pakistan on the brink)

"If street violence in the Bhutto stronghold of Sindh spreads to Punjab, a province that is home to a large proportion of the country’s army personnel, it could have serious repercussions for Gen Musharraf, who seized power in a bloodless coup in 1999.

"Analysts warn that the army would be highly reluctant to use military force to suppress a popular movement in Lahore, the capital of Punjab, and might be compelled to force Gen Musharraf to withdraw from political life to appease Bhutto supporters.

The Financial Times refers to the "palpably dwindling level of support Gen Musharraf enjoys in Washington."

According to the Washington Post, 26 December 2007, ( U.S. Troops to Head to Pakistan )the new head of the U.S. Special Operations Command, Adm. Eric T. Olson visited Pakistan in August, November and December 2007.

Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte visited Pakistan in November 2007. He held three meetings with General Ashfaq Kiyani, the deputy army chief. (US appears to groom possible Musharraf army successor - The Boston ...)

In June 2007, the New York Sun reported that "American intelligence officials see one possible successor to General Musharraf in the current vice chief of staff of the army, General Ehsan Saleem Hayat... Another possibility is the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff of the Pakistani military, Ehsun ul-Haq, a former chief of Pakistan's intelligence service." (Military May Pull the Plug On Musharraf - June 12, 2007 - The New ...)

The New York Times reported on 14 November 2007 that "army generals are unlikely to move against General Musharraf unless certain 'red lines' are crossed, such as countrywide political protests or a real threat of a cutoff of American military aid to Pakistan." (U.S. Is Looking Past Musharraf in Case He Falls - New York Times)

So, a CIA organised assassination of Bhutto could be meant to lead to riots leading to the Pakistan army's decision to replace Musharraf with a more pro-American general.

So, who killed Bhutto?

"Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, 54, was shot at and killed by at least two snipers before a suicide bomb attack on the periphery of her carcade.

"Police confirmed that the snipers fired five bullets from AK-47 assault rifles. Two of the bullets hit Benazir in the neck, while a third hit her forehead." - reports

"Remember the concept of ‘triangulation’ from the “JFK” movie. Some reports ... are claiming multiple snipers firing at Bhutto, and multiple snipers also attacked a Nawaz Sharif rally. This appears to be standard American military procedure for a can’t-fail assassination, and is what the Pentagon (probably) used against JFK." - Xymphora permanent link

Benazir Bhutto was no fan of the USA as she believed that the USA may have killed her father. - (Kissinger Threatened Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto: That threat and his ...)

The CIA may have been behind the death of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

In Benazir Bhutto’s autobiography The Daughter of Destinty, Benazir Bhutto says that Henry Kissinger tried to persuade her father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to stop his nuclear programme.

Kissinger reportedly warned Zulfikar Ali Bhutto that he was going to be made a horrible example of.

In 1977, General Zia, believed to be a tool of the CIA, toppled Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and had him sentenced to death.

General Zia visited the U.S. ambassador about 12 hours before the 5 July 1977 coup. - Cached

Former U.S. attorney general Ramsey Clark, addressing Stanford University in California, stated that the CIA may have been behind the toppling of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. "The similarities in the staging of riots in Chile (where the CIA allegedly helped overthrow President Salvadore Allande) and in Pakistan are just too close," he said. ( `CIA Sent Bhutto to the Gallows´

There are powerful people in the USA, UK and Israel who want see Pakistan split up.

"The strategy of fragmentation suggested by Yinon in 1982 is not confined to the Arab world, or even the Middle East. Iran, Turkey, Pakistan and Afghanistan are all part of Yinon's strategic thinking... Israel wants all other countries in the region to be restructured along sectarian, ethnic, doctrinal or racist lines." - Manifest colonial domination

According to Israel's first Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion, (Jewish Chronicle of 9 August 1967): "The world Zionist movement should not be neglectful of the dangers of Pakistan to it. And Pakistan now should be its first target, for this ideological State is a threat to our existence. And Pakistan, the whole of it, hates the Jews and loves the Arabs. This lover of the Arabs is more dangerous to us than the Arabs themselves. For that matter, it is most essential for the world Zionism that it should now take immediate steps against Pakistan."

Why does the USA apparently want to topple Musharraf and replace him with a more clearly pro-American general?

In September 2006, CBS produced an interview with Musharraf. In this interview, Musharraf claims that after the 9/11 attacks, then-Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage threatened Pakistan's military intelligence chief that the U.S. would bomb his country 'back to the Stone Age' if Musharraf didn't cooperate with the USA. (Bush and Musharraf: Friends Again - TIME)

In 2006, Musharraf wrote a book in which he stated that Omar Sheikh, one of the primary financers of the 9/11 attacks, may have worked for British intelligence during the 1990s. (xymphora: Omar Sheikh and British intelligence)

From US turns against Musharraf, Asia Times Online, January 12, 2006:

"According to a contact who spoke to Asia Times Online, a person close to the US Central Intelligence Agency paid a low-profile visit to New Delhi in the third week of December and briefed strategic planners on Washington's plan to try to curtail the role of the Pakistani army."

According to the CIA is in the process of trying to find a replacement for Pakistan's president, Pervez Musharraf. Reportedly, the CIA hopes to replace Musharraf with a military officer.

The US sent head-of-state hunters from the Central Intelligence Agency to scour the Pakistani military apparatus to identify a suitable replacement for General Pervez Musharraf.
The extraordinary recruitment mission — reflecting the seriousness of purpose and urgency with which the Bush administration wants to oust its ‘most valuable ally’ — was disclosed recently by a well-placed diplomatic source...

A team of CIA operatives was subsequently sent to the country to sort out pro-US army officers, one of whom could be considered Musharraf’s successor as the commander-in-chief.

Rashid Rauf, Jamal al-Badawi, Omar al-Faruq, Haroon Rashid Aswat - all working for the security services?

Rashid Rauf, British 'terrorist mastermind' of the alleged plot to blow up at least 10 transatlantic airliners, has escaped from custody. -Top British terror suspect escapes
Jamal al-Badawi was convicted in 2004 of planning and carrying out the USS Cole bombing.

He escaped from prison in 2004.

In October 2007, al-Badawi, after pledging loyalty to Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, has been told that he is a free man. ( )

Omar Al-Faruq was described as being the mastermind of the Bali bomb plot.

Al-Faruq was arrested in Bogor on June 5, 2002 and handed over to the US authorities.

Former Indonesian State Intelligence Coordinating Board (BAKIN) chief A.C. Manulang was quoted by Tempo as saying that Al-Faruq was most likely a CIA-recruited agent. Omar Al-Faruq Recruited by The CIA

A Pentagon official in Washington has confirmed that al-Faruq escaped from a U.S. detention facility in Bagram, Afghanistan, on 10 July 2005. (Pakistan News Service - PakTribune)

Haroon Rashid Aswat was described as being the mastermind of the 7 July London bombings.

The authorities stated that Aswat had made mobile telephone calls to two of the 7 July bombers. ('Batley man' linked to bin Laden and bombers - Yorkshire Evening Post)

After Aswat was handed over to the UK police, Scotland Yard police headquarters said, on 7 August 2005, that detectives were not interested in speaking to Aswat about the London attacks. (

Reportedly, Aswat worked for MI6.

CIA attempts to topple Algeria's president?

Photo from: User:Damouns
Traditionally, the army pulls the strings in Algeria and there may be elements of the army that work for the CIA and French intelligence.
There may be elements of the army who oppose Algeria's temporary flirtation with Russia.
In March 2006, Russia and Algeria signed military equipment contracts worth around $8 billion. This was after Putin had visited Algeria.

In August 2006, the state gas companies of Algeria and Russia signed a cooperation pact.

In 2006, Algeria supported Russia’s suggestion of creating a ‘natural gas OPEC’.
What is at stake is oil, gas and military bases.
The recent terror began in December 2006.
The Algerian oil and gas company then declared that it was stopping cooperation with Russia's Gazprom.

And, Algeria suspended weapons supplies from Russia.

Ruslan Pukhov, director of the Strategy and Technology Analysis Center, believes “there is a confrontation of interests between military and energy officials” in Algeria’s political elite.

“In both groups, there are pro-Russia, pro-France, and pro-American groupings which fight for their partners’ interests. At least six ‘clans’ confront each other, winning in turns,” the expert said. (One-Sided Cooperation)

Uruknet tells us about the Algeria explosions and the American ambitions

According to uruknet, 11 December 2007:

With todays’ explosions in Algeria, people should listen to two Algerians:

Louisa Hanoun, leader of the Algerian Labour Party was interviewed on Aljazeera a month ago. She said:

"The timing of the terrorist operations in Algeria and the emergence of the so-called 'Al-Qaeda in North Africa' is linked to the policy of robbing and looting the region by certain super powers and foreign interests."

Earlier this year, Hanoun was the first one to reveal that Algeria rejected an American proposal for an American military base in the Algerian desert.

Anwar Malik, an Algerian writer and specialist in Islamic movements in North Africa
, wrote an article called "Al-Qaeda in Algeria and the American ambitions" (September 2007). He wrote:

"Al-Qaeda in North Africa will attack foreigners in Algeria, side by side with other operations , in order to justify the American project in the region."

Who wants to cause trouble in Algeria?

1. Algeria's President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has had some success in making peace with the Islamists.

2. Reportedly, he has rejected the idea of an American military base in the desert.

3. He was involved in the proposal for a big deal on gas with the Russians. Algeria and Russia could jointly control up to 40% of gas supplies to the European Union

4. He has also favoured the formation of a Gas OPEC.

The consortium of gas-rich countries includes Russia, Iran, Qatar, Venezuela, and Algeria.

"The appearance of such a powerful player in the energy arena will undoubtedly meet with an extremely negative reaction from the United States and the European Union." - Cartel in the Cards - Kommersant Moscow

It is possible that the 'al Qaeda' attacks are meant to ensure that Algeria will cooperate more with the USA and France and less with Russia.

The attacks may be meant to pressure or even topple the president of Algeria.

The recent 'al-Qaeda' terror attacks in Algeria seem to have targeted mainly poor Moslems.

Reportedly, no Americans or French have been killed.

Dec. 10, 2006 — An attack on vehicles carrying foreign employees of an affiliate of U.S. company Halliburton kills an Algerian and a Lebanese citizen.

March 3, 2007 — Two land mines rip through a bus, killing three Algerians and a Russian.

April 11 — Attacks on the main government offices in central Algiers and a police station kill 33.

May 16 — A hospital bombing on the eve of parliamentary elections kills a police officer and injures several others.

The bombs of 11 December 2007 went off between UN offices, not in UN offices.

The terror in Algeria may have something to do with control of Algeria's oil and gas and control Algeria's government.

In early December 2007, French President Sarkozy visited Algeria.

Algeria and France signed contracts worth several billion euros during the visit.

The deals include oil, gas and nuclear energy projects.

In 2006, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Russia's Gazprom and Algeria's state-owned exporter Sonatrach.

This agreement, in theory, put 69% of Italy's natural gas under the control of a sole distributor.

EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs said that "Our worries are the development of the contacts between Russia and Algeria,"
Gazprom's agreement with Algeria in trouble?)

Terror in Algeria is often the work of the army. And there may be elements of the army prepared to work with the security services of the USA, France and other countries.

According to this article - Algeria: Islam, Oil & War on Terror -

"Getting to the root of the problem requires looking beyond the 'Islamist movement' and cracking down on the true source of strife: namely, the army. Operating under a thin veil of military dictatorship, Algeria’s state of affairs is being controlled by a 'military caste' that is intent on 'discrediting the Islamists.'"

In Algeria, the 'Moslem terrorists' are usually working for the security services of one country or another.

In 1991, the parliamentary election in Algeria was about to be won by the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS).

This was largely a protest vote against an 'unpopular, corrupt and dictatorial' government.

The Algerian military, supported by the French government, cancelled the 1991 election and took power.

There followed a series of terror events in Algeria and in France. This terror was blamed on the Algerian Armed Islamic Group - the GIA.

It is now believed that many of the terrorist atrocities in Algeria were the work of army undercover units.

The New Zealand Listener reported on the links between the security services and the 'Islamic terrorists' in Algeria:

"In recent years, firm evidence has begun to emerge from Algerian military sources and leading academics that the dreaded GIA has been, perhaps from the outset..., a dummy, or 'screen' organisation managed by French/Algerian counter-intelligence.",

What is the role of the USA in Algeria?

The United States is building a huge military surveillance base at Tamanrasset in Algeria.

US forces are training the Algerian military. Washington wants to provide Algiers with pilot-less drone planes.

This military base is a result of agreements signed between Washington and Algiers for oil industry development.

In addition, the United States has worked to include Algeria in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and considers Algeria one of its most important allies outside of NATO. - The Daily Star - Politics - Algeria's terror examined

In February 2001, 'The Dirty War', by Habib Souaidia, a former Algerian army officer, was published.

It tells of the part played by the Algerian army in the killing of tens of thousands of Algerians.

Habib writes: "I have seen colleagues burn alive a 15-year-old child.

"I have seen soldiers disguising themselves as terrorists and massacring civilians.

"I have seen colonels kill mere suspects in cold blood.

"I have seen officers torture fundamentalists to death...."

Robert Fisk in The Independent, January 1998, wrote about killings in certain villages in Algeria. Many of the dead were women and children; some were burned alive; some were decapitated or disembowelled. The villagers at Ouled Sahnine, Kherarba, El Abadel and Ouled Tayeb were Islamists and had voted in the 1991 elections for the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) . The killers used knives, wire and portable guillotines to butcher civilians. Whole families were herded into 'killing rooms' to have their throats cut, with shovels as well as knives. .

The Real Terrorists in Semarang?

Lester Cross is the Australian head of an anti-terror organisation in Indonesia, the Jakarta Center for Law Enforcement Cooperation.

On 2 December 2007, gunmen shot at Lester Cross's vehicle.

According to The Jakarta Post, Cross 'was unharmed when shots hit a window and a tire... in the city of Semarang, about 250 kilometers east of the capital, Jakarta.'

The Indonesian police said that the attackers might be terrorists.

Cross's anti-terror 'school', which is jointly run by Indonesia and Australia, was set up in 2004 to help police from across Asia fight terrorism. It also acts as an information clearinghouse and provides governments with anti-terrorism experts.

It has now emerged that the people who shot at Lester Cross were Indonesian police officers.

So now we know.

On 31 August 2002, two vehicles carrying teachers from Freeport’s International School in Indonesia were shot at.

Americans Ted Burgon and Ricky Spier were killed.

West Papua Police concluded that members of the Indonesian Army’s Special Forces (Kopassus) might have been involved in the killings. (Paras Indonesia - Where Democratic Minds Meet)

Antonius Wamang has been named by Indonesian officials as the killer.

Human rights groups say Wamang has 'extensive ties' to the Indonesian military as a business partner of Kopassus. (Paras Indonesia - Where Democratic Minds Meet)

In an August 2004 television interview on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Wamang said that he received his ammunition for the attack from Indonesian military personnel. (Paras Indonesia - Where Democratic Minds Meet)

Reportedly, the Indonesian military has a history of using militias to carry out acts of terror, in the hope of hiding its own role.

Reportedly, Indonesian-led forces deliberately killed five Australian television newsmen in East Timor in 1975. (Killing of Balibo five deliberate, inquest told )

An Australian coroner has called for a war crimes probe into what she said was the murder of two British journalists 32 years ago by Indonesian forces (UK journalists murdered by the military)

Insonesia's special forces regiment is called Kopassus. It has been trained by the Americans and reportedly gets weapons from the Israelis.

According to Dr Damien Kingsbury, head of philosophical, political and international studies at Deakin University:
Kopassus set up the Islamic organisation Komando Jihad.

Komando Jihad became Jemaah Islamiah, which has been linked to the Bali bomb.

Kopassus members trained the notorious Laskar Jihad Islamic militia, which stepped up conflict in the Ambon region, leaving up to 10,000 dead. Kopassus still trains and organises the militias in West Timor that continue cross-border destabilisation operations into East Timor.
